petrichor

written by harry maynard

every time i do my pottery

it rains, it rains on me

it’s happened too many times to count

i think we’re ought to be

i’ll take it as a prophecy

every time i write my poetry

it rains, why don’t you see

what i’m seein’, cause i’m seein’

something we could hope to be

some day we’ll both agree

darling i adore the scent of your perfume in the air,

your petrichor, yeah, get some more

every time it rains, it pours, i have a thought and

i need to get some more of your petrichor

i think you’re magical, manic pixie girl crawlin' in my dreams and

while i’m sleepin’ you are leaving me enthralled

i see you in the mirror, in the floor, a phantasmal force

i feel you in the rain drops when they fall, your petrichor

every time i try to go to sleep

the rain is music to me

when i listen now i hate how

there’s no rain sounds while i dream

put the playlist on repeat

it’s getting kind of late, i kept an ear out for the rain

i used to like the weather here but now i wished it changed

i like when we’re together, but we’re a poetic tragedy

you had me crying like the sky, and it’s pathetic fallacy

we got a little space, i used to hate the distance

now i’m savouring where the rain is givin’ kisses

i feel you in the air, yea, i feel you everywhere

you’re in the rain, and it’s okay if the smell of you decides to stay

darling i adore the scent of your perfume in the air,

your petrichor, yeah, get some more

every time it rains, it pours, i have a thought and

i need to get some more of your petrichor

i think you’re magical, manic pixie girl crawlin' in my dreams and

while i’m sleepin’ you are leaving me enthralled

i see you in the mirror, in the floor, a phantasmal force

i feel you in the rain drops when they fall, your petrichor
